Wire’s Pink Flag needs no introduction. The 1977 LP didn’t so much usher in the post-punk explosion of the subsequent years as it did re-write the rulebook. Every track here broke new ground: ‘Reuters’, the portentous and lumbering opener; short-and-sweet salvos like ‘Field Day For The Sundays’ and ‘Different To Me’; spindly groove tunes like ‘Three Girl Rhumba’ - every one of them unique, every one of them vital.
