upsammy helps launch the Amsterdam label TOPO2 with a new ambient LP entitled Strange Meridians. Pressed on sustainable materials, Strange Meridians finds the adventurous Dutch producer in an organic headspace, as tracks like the springy ‘Aqualizing’ and the droning ‘Mazing’ either incorporate field recordings of forests and flowing water or utilise synths to approximate their tranquillity. Drums are also sparse here save for the glitch-y ‘Spiral biting its tail’ whose propulsive kicks feel uprooted from clubbier fare, but still snugly fit the album’s placid mood.
