The Return Of The Durutti Column (45th Ann)
āThe Return of The Durutti Columnā marked the beginning of a five-decade career in which The Durutti Column quietly became one of Manchesterās most influential acts.Ā
The album is a hauntingly intimate debut from Vini Reilly: fragile, otherworldly, and quietly radical. With producer Martin Hannettās signature studio alchemy, Reillyās delicate, filigree guitar work is wrapped in ambient haze, post-punk reverb, and glacial electronics. The result is a sparse yet emotionally saturated soundscape, where minimalism meets affecting atmospherics.
To mark the albumās 45th anniversary, London Records presents new editions, remastered from the original tapes (the first edition to do so since 1980) and cut at half-speed for vinyl.
This edition comes with new liner notes by The Durutti Column author James Nice, author of āThe Durutti Column: A Life of Rileyā and āShadowplayers: The Rise and Fall of Factory Records.āĀ
