Tron: Ares

Each instalment of the TRON movie franchise has seemingly tapped up the exact pitch perfect artist to sonify its endlessly endearing virtual world. First it was the pioneering legend Wendy Carlos, then the iconic Daft Punk, and now with TRON: Ares, Nine Inch Nails take the helm to complete a hallowed digital trinity to staggering effect. The jagged, ultra physical EBM and synth-wave of ‘As Alive As You Need Me To Be’ growls and sparks, with steamy closeup vocals focussing on every exhalation. It’s a cross between technological horror and seductive devotion that hits the sweet spot for hair-raising sci fi action.
