Champion Sound

Champion Sound is the collaborative album by producers J Dilla (Detroit) and Madlib (Oxnard), released under the moniker Jaylib. The project began when Madlib received a CD of J Dilla's instrumental tracks and recorded vocals over them, labeling the work "Jaylib." Stones Throw Records pressed a limited number of copies of the track "The Message" as a promo, which led to the full album's creation. The album was recorded by sending tracks back and forth between Detroit and Oxnard, with the two producers meeting only once during the process. Champion Sound features guest appearances from Talib Kweli, Percee P, and Quasimoto, and is celebrated for its innovative production and chemistry between the artists.
