Straight From The Decks
After his acclaimed Beach Digginā series, renowned French-DJ/producer/ digger Guts is back with a new compilation! The finest selection of āclassicsā from his famous DJ sets, those tried and tested tunes he reaches for time and time again. 17 tracks of Latin, soul, boogie, Afrobeat and zouk from Cape Verde, Brazil, Equatorial Guinea, France, Portugal and beyond!
āThe process of compiling started six or seven years ago, an itch that I scratched by putting out the Beach Diggin compilations. Exploring dusty crates for hours, unearthing those pearls and gluing them together with others of their kind. Bits of this, bits of that, looking back itās what made me want to return to DJing, and so return to it I did.
More recently, if Iām not on stage or in the studio, I spend my me crossing the world behind two turntables and a mixer, often dancing as much as those in the crowd. For most of my sets Iāll have around a hundred records with me, Iāll draw from them depending on the state of mind in that particular moment. Call it my immediate stock of music if you like. Things in my bag may only remain in there a short period of me before getting swapped out for something else. Others may make an appearances a little more often, then of course there are the loyal favourites that may stay in my bag for months on end and feature in all my sets."
